Everton’s start to the new campaign is leaving some serious questions hanging over the future of Sean Dyche.

Having gone the opening four games without recording a single point, Everton are going into this weekend sitting rock bottom in the table.

Sean Dyche has received the backing of Farhad Moshiri despite the struggles Everton have faced in the early stages of the campaign.

But there is now a huge opportunity to end their drought in the league as the Toffees face Leicester City over the weekend.

John Textor is now believed to be nearing a takeover agreement with Moshiri for Everton which may pile the pressure on Dyche even further.

However, sporting director Kevin Thelwell has now come out and provided his thoughts on what Everton have recently done regarding Dyche’s future.

Kevin Thelwell delighted by what Everton have done with Sean Dyche

Everton’s struggles on the pitch has the pressure rising on their manager who managed to save Everton from the drop last term.

But the strong end to last season will have provided the Toffees with a lot of hope for brighter things to come this time around.

However, that has not been the case with Everton really struggling to make their mark in the Premier League as well as having now been dumped out of the Carabao Cup.

Speaking to BBC Sounds, Thelwell has admitted he was delighted to see the club provide their public backing of Dyche amid the club’s early struggles.

“I’m glad that the club did make that statement and I’m glad that we’ve tried to make it clear because he’s obviously working under very difficult circumstances,” he said.

“We’ve still got an ownership issue to resolve, we’ve still got financial situations to resolve and so that makes it very difficult for a manager when we want to try and take that next step.

“Sean and I work very closely together, our offices are across the road from each other and are literally a meter apart so we’re talking regularly in the mornings, regularly in the afternoons and regularly in the evenings, talking constantly about what things we can do and how we can use the resources that we have got available to try and making things better going forward.”

Everton could shoot up the table this weekend

There is no getting away from the dreadful start to the campaign which has been made by the Toffees so far.

However, a win on the weekend could see Everton shoot up the table and out of the relegation zone with the bottom half of the table still incredibly tight.

Three points could even see the Blues go within one point of Tottenham Hotspur if the results pan out that way.

It has been an awful start to the campaign but this is the weekend where Everton could see their season kickstarted with what would be three big points.
