Leicester City could be without as many as four players for their game against Chelsea this weekend.
Steve Cooper’s side return to Premier League action following the international break, which has brought back mixed reaction.
While Wilfried Ndidi was praised for his performances with Nigeria, others such as Victor Kristiansen were slammed by their local media.
To add to that, the Leicester boss could be without several stars – three of which you would consider to be nailed on starters.
One definite absentee is Facundo Buonanotte, who will serve a one-match suspension for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the loss against Manchester United.
Chelsea have injury problems of their own and Enzo Maresca could be without seven first-team players on his return to the King Power Stadium.
Cooper meanwhile will be sweating over the availability of three other stars.
Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu are major doubts for Chelsea clash
Two of the biggest doubts heading into this weekend are Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu.
The Foxes duo were sent home early from international duty, with the Ghanian Football Association revealing that Ayew had “significant issues with his knee” following a scan.
Fatawu meanwhile posted a worrying update on social media as he was spotted wearing a knee brace in two photos.
There was speculation suggesting that he had suffered an ACL injury, but medical advice states to keep the leg straight whereas in the photo he was bending his knee.
Patson Daka could make first appearance of the first season
On a more positive sign, Patson Daka could be included in a matchday squad for the first time this season.
Daka was injured in the Foxes’ final pre-season game against RC Lens and had been training alone before recently linking back up with the squad.
Given that Ayew is almost certainly out, Jamie Vardy still not nailed on to start and Odsonne Edouard not favoured, there is an outside chance that the Zambia international could start.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid has also been spotted back in training after missing the last two games with a gash on the achilles ruling him out of action.
Jamie Vardy set to return
Jamie Vardy missed the defeat at Old Trafford through injury but the international break came at a good time for the 37-year-old, allowing him to rest and recover.
Vardy has been spotted in training photos and videos this week, having fun with his teammates by chucking snow over the top of them in response to the cold weather.
It’s unclear as to whether he is 100 per cent or not but it looks as if he will be in contention to start on Saturday.
