According to Sky Sports, Leicester City are close to signing former Aston Villa teenager Arjan Raikhy.
Raikhy, a 20-year-old midfielder, is currently without a club. He left Aston Villa when his contract expired and has remained a free agent ever since, but he has received plenty of interest.
Leicester City and Wolves were both interested in Raikhy, according to the Daily Mail earlier this month. Barrow, Doncaster Rovers, Morecambe and Salford City are also thought to be fans of his abilities.
However, according to a new Sky Sports story, Raikhy is on his way to the King Power Stadium.
They state that Leicester City are set to announce the signing of the promising central midfielder, initially bringing him into their U21s set up.
The vast amount of Raikhy’s game time to date has come in academy football but he has also gained senior experience during loans with Stockport County and Grimsby Town.
Raikhy has caught the attention in junior football with Aston Villa, and with some senior experience already under his belt, he has the makings of a star who might make a successful career in first-team football in the coming years.
Leicester City have previously been prepared to grant opportunities to their best youth players, so Raikhy will be aiming to follow in their footsteps if he joins the Foxes as reported.
Luke Thomas and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are two players who rose through the Leicester City development system to become first-team regulars. Harvey Barnes, who was recently sold, also emerged through the Foxes’ system, albeit he first established a name for himself in loan spells with MK Dons, Barnsley and west brom
