Dean Smith has approached Leicester City Football Club about taking over as manager on a permanent basis. Coach Enzo Maresca, a member of Pep Guardiola’s staff at Manchester City, has also been considered by the Foxes.
With all due respect to the West Bromwich-born coach, Smith does not appear to be a top pick for Blue Army members. To be totally honest, I doubt that the recently appointed Leicester City manager is in the supporters’ top three or even five probable managers. I don’t believe the ex-Aston Villa man did a particularly poor job on Filbert Way. There were a few dubious rulings, such as Harry Souttar’s exclusion, victorious readmission versus Newcastle United, and then unjustifiably dismissing once more.
Smith is being considered as the next permanent head coach by the LCFC ownership, specifically Top Srivaddhanaprabha. We could do worse, in my opinion, because he has been successful in the Championship. Indeed, the 52-year-old successfully navigated the notoriously difficult division for promotion in 2019 via the minefield that is the Playoffs. The ex-Norwich City man has held more conversations with Leicester after the season finished, according to the Telegraph. In addition to that disclosure, Smith is thought to have some backing from the Leicestershire club’s board of directors.
Leicester City is interested in Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca.
According to the same credible source, the Citizens’ Maresca is being watched by the Foxes. Anyone affiliated with Guardiola appears to be given walk-on-water credentials in football without being examined in other areas.
According to the Leicester Mercury, it is currently unknown who will manage the east Midlands club in 2023/24. They essentially suggest Graham Potter is also a long shot; most of us already assumed the former Chelsea manager was unrealistic. Maresca is regarded as a potential ‘adventurous’ member of the group.
