Leicester City identified another perfect midfielder this summer as they look to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Leicester City have identified another midfielder this summer as they look to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Foxes’ summer has been overridden by uncertainty on who will play in the centre-of-the-park for Steve Cooper’s side in the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Leicester City’s top priority has been reaplacing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following his sale to Chelsea, where he has linked up with former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca.

The likes of Matt O’Riley have been targeted as a sufficient replacement for the midfielder, however no deal has quite come into fruition at this point, despite Leicester City at one point being in ‘pole-position’ to sign the Danish international.

Although an attacking-midfielder is yet to be signed, Leicester City appear to be very strong in defensive-midfield this season, with Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi amongst the side, with the latter signing a new deal at the King Power Stadium.

Despite the strength in this position, Cooper has identified another player to bolster his options.

Leicester City eye deal for Oliver Skipp

The Foxes are reportedly interested in Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, with Southampton and Ipswich also interested in signing the English midfielder this summer, per The Telegraph.

The 23-year-old, who has tallied a total of 77 Premier League appearances for Spurs, is reportedly keen on a move away from the North-London side as he looks to prioritise gametime at this stage in his career.

Skipp played a significant part in Tottenham’s 2023/24 campaign, playing a total of 21 games in the league, however the majority of appearances saw the defensive-midfielder coming from off the bench for Ange Postecoglu’s side.

Harry Winks could play crucial role in Oliver Skipp signing

Leicester City midfielder Winks could play a massive part in the acquisition of Skipp this summer.

The pair have played alongside each other for Tottenham on several occasions, and Skipp will likely want to reconnect with his former teammate.

Winks and Skipp could work incredibly well together for Leicester City, and will ensure that Premier League experience is brimming in their midfield, something that they undoubtedly beat fellow Premier League promoted sides Ipswich Town at Southampton in.

Alternatively, Skipp is of a very similar mould to Winks, with the pair potentially being played interchangeably, as the pair both featuring at the same time may not work in situations where they are looking to press forward.

In terms of the defensive midfield, Cooper’s side will be fully secure following the potential signing of Skipp, and they will be looking ready for the Challenge of the Premier League as long as they add an attacking-midfielder to sit in front of the likes of Winks and Skipp.
