Chilwell and Mudryk are expected to return for Chelsea against Leicester City, while Fernandez is suspended.
Ben Chilwell will be included in the matchday squad for Sunday’s Chelsea vs. Leicester City match, according to Mauricio Pochettino.
On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea will host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in their FA Cup quarterfinal match with the goal of advancing to the semi-finals. And ahead of his team’s most recent match, Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed a mixed bag of team news updates.
Due to a suspension, Enzo Fernandez will not participate in the match against Leicester City after receiving bookings against Aston Villa and Leeds United. Ben Chilwell, however, is available and fit after recovering from a knee injury, which is good news.
Furthermore, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill are getting closer to playing again. However, it’s possible that the match on Sunday came too soon for the two to play right away. Wesley Fofana is a long-term absentee due to a knee injury, while Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Christopher Nkunku are still sidelined with hamstring injuries.
Pochettino spoke about Fernandez’s and Chilwell’s problems at his pregame press conference. The Chelsea manager commented on Chilwell, saying, “Gareth told you he is fit [by picking him for England].” He’s in training, and so far, everything seems to be going smoothly. Yes, he will be in the team on Sunday.
“Players are always ecstatic to be called up for the national team after recovering from an injury and feeling fit. Like the other players who were chosen for England, he is therefore excited. “You always want to have your best players available, but we have players to replace him and perform in the best way,” he said in reference to Fernandez.
Conor Gallagher will drop into the double pivot and team up with Moises Caicedo in the middle of the park since Fernandez isn’t available. Cole Palmer will thus replace Gallagher and resume playing at number ten. Mykhailo Mudryk will therefore join Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson in the final third, marking one change to the offensive unit.
As a result of his return to fitness, Chilwell will start and take Marc Cucurella’s place at left back. The Chelsea backline will consist of the former Leicester City defender in addition to Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Malo Gusto. In the end, Robert Sanchez ought to start in goal instead of Djordje Petrovic.
