Leicester City leading the hot battle race to sign 21-year-old Manchester City sparking midfielder

Alan Nixon has stated on his Patreon that Leicester City and Burnley are ‘leading the chase’ for Manchester City prodigy Cole Palmer.

Enzo Maresca, the new manager of Leicester City, previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City. The expectation is that his tight ties to City will aid them in the transfer market as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Nixon has already stated on his Patreon page that the Foxes intend to exploit that relationship to bring in Cole Palmer.

Along with Burnley, Leicester are thought to be leading the race for the 21-year-old playmaker.

Thanks to manager and Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, the Clarets also have tight ties to the treble champions. Last summer, they recruited Ajo Muric and CJ Egan-Riley from City and loaned in Taylor Harwood-Bellis as they surged to the Championship title and returned to the Premier League at the first attempt.

While time will tell how Palmer’s situation develops, there’s little doubt that he’d be a genuinely impressive addition for Leicester City as they prepare for a Championship title fight.

Palmer is one of City’s most highly rated young players after excelling at youth level and grabbing the eye in a few senior appearances. He’s also made an impression in the England setup, becoming a regular for the U21s.

He can play as an attacking midfielder on the flank or through the middle, and he can also play deeper as a central midfielder. Palmer appears to be ready for a chance in the Premier League, but with players like Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle, and James McAtee catching the eye in the Championship, a second-tier move could be a good option for Palmer as well.
