Matt Piper, a former Leicester City player, hailed the Foxes for their fighting spirit and determination in the second half against Leeds United on Tuesday.

Dean Smith’s squad traveled to Elland Road on Tuesday to face fellow Premier League relegation contenders Leeds.

And, after behind to an early Rodrigo strike, Leicester came away with a point thanks to Jamie Vardy’s goal.

Piper conceded that Leicester’s performance in the first half was bad, but he believes Smith’s team responded superbly to win the game.

Leicester’s second-half performance, according to the former Foxes player, perfectly demonstrates their resolve to battle back and the squad’s unity.

“I thought they were really poor in the first half, but the way they came out in the second half and really grinded out something from the game,” Piper said after the encounter on BBC Radio Leicester.

“Vardy appeared to be a huge strength when he came on and had the ball in the net twice, one of which counted and the other did not.”

“Iheanacho was passing through when his hip became loose.”

“There was more fight, determination, and teamwork.”

“That’s what I’m seeing all over there now, in front of the Leicester City fans, and it makes me feel like we’re all in this together.”

Leicester are one point out of the relegation zone after Tuesday’s draw at Elland Road, and they will face Everton next, who are below them in the league rankings.
