Leicester City now reportedly 95% close in full agreement to sign to fans favourite

Leicester City are close to agreeing a new contract with one of their star players ahead of the summer.

Leicester City are returning to the Premier League as champions of the Championship following an overall impressive season in the second tier.

The Foxes clinched the league title following a 3-0 win away at Preston North End on Monday night and finish their season with a home game against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

Enzo Maresca‘s side have won their last three now following back-to-back defeats.

Ipswich Town look set to join Leicester City in the Premier League if they can avoid defeat at home to 23rd place Huddersfield Town this weekend, with Leeds United in 4th and three points behind the Tractor Boys.

Both teams have kept Leicester City on their toes this season and at one point, it looked like Leicester could’ve missed out on the top two altogether.

And the Foxes have certainly been helped over the line by the recent impressive form of Jamie Vardy.

The 37-year-old has scored four in his last three games and has 18 in the Championship this season.

He’s out of contract in the summer and there’s been some debate about his future, though it looks like Vardy is now close to agreeing a new deal with Leicester City.

Reports, oddly enough, coming out of France from the national, trusted source L’Equipe say that Vardy and Leicester City are close to agreeing on a new deal.

The same report hints that it’ll be a further year for Vardy who has been with Leicester City for 12 years now, making 463 total appearances and scoring a staggering 190 goals.

There was some concerns over Vardy going into this season and whether he’d be able to maintain his level of performances and goal-scoring tally in a rigorous Championship division.

But he’s proved any doubters wrong with an impressive season, which has only gotten better and better as well.

The 2024/25 season for Jamie Vardy and Leicester City

Vardy will be 38 come the end of next season.

Although he’s not showing ay sign of slowing down, clubs won’t look at that kind of age with any fondness, and so it could mean a parting of the ways for Vardy and Leicester next season.

Unless, of course, he’s goes on to enjoy another prolific season in the Premier League, which after this season wouldn’t be all that surprising.

Vardy is defying his age and proving why he’s been such a prolific striker over the past decade.

His goals this season have been one of a very experienced striker who knows exactly when to be in the right areas.

He could yet play a big role for the Foxes next season with many already tipping them to struggle in the Premier League.

Expect Leicester though to bolster theur attacking ranks, which could mean a back-up role for Vardy.

But first, Vardy and Leicester will look to formally complete their deal
