Leicester City had several poor showings as they lost out 3-1 to Nottingham Forest.
Steve Cooper’s side looked to hopefully build on a brilliant two successive victories against Bournemouth and Southampton, where they had managed to claw themselves away from the relegation zone.
Leicester City and Cooper went for an alternative style of play with the introduction of Ricardo Pereira, who got his first start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. The former Portuguese international stepped up into midfield alongside Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi in attack, whilst also resuming his defensive responsibilities when called upon.
Despite initially going behind against the away side, Leicester City were able to respond brilliantly through Jamie Vardy, who latched on the end of a brilliant cross put in by former Tottenham Hotspur man Harry Winks.
After going into the interval on level terms, Cooper’s work was undone in the second stanza courtesy of a double by Chris Wood that swung the game out of the Foxes favour.
After what was a poor showing in the end, here is how we rate Leicester City’s performance against Nottingham Forest.
Mads Hermansen
Didn’t cover himself in glory for the first Nottingham Forest goal, he easily could have got a hand to it. More than made up for it in the 24th minute to deny Nicolas Dominguez only three-yards-out. Made decent saves but conceding three brought his rating down. 6/10.
Ricardo Pereira
Lost Elliot Anderson in the build-up to Wood’s goal, who was able to set-up the New Zealand international. Looked somewhat improved in an attacking sense following the goal. 6/10.
James Justin
Poor showing on his weaker side of defence. Lost possession on several occasions when attempting to go forward and looked shaky defensively as well. 5/10.
Caleb Okoli
Could have done more to prevent Wood from finding the back of the net in the second half and not let him turn so easily. 6/10.
Wout Faes
Proved again to be solid at the back in the first half. Completely undid that work in the second half after a calamity error to set up Wood to his second goal. 5/10.
Harry Winks
Endured a brilliant start to the game in the centre-of-the-park. Provided a brilliant assist for Vardy. Helped to dictate play and get the ball forward for his side. 8/10.
Wilfred Ndidi
Had his work cut out for him against Forest, looked to get forward in attack but made little impact. 6/10.
Facundo Buonanotte
Failed to clear his lines for Yates’ opener. Was Leicester’s main creative output when going forward. 7/10.
Abdul Fatawu
Lost possession on several occasions on the right flank. Rarely made a difference when taking corners. Was overshadowed by the abilities of Facundo Buonanotte. 5/10.
Stephy Mavididi
Struggled to settle in the game and replicate his brilliance against Southampton. 5/10.
Jamie Vardy
Right place at the right time to pounce on Winks’ cross for the first goal for Leicester City. Did brilliantly well to edge in front of his man. 8/10.
