Leicester City is said to be interested in signing Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer.
That’s according to the Italian news outlet, Calcio Mercato, who claims City is looking at Bremer as a replacement for Caglar Soyuncu. Soyuncu’s contract expires in the summer, and Atletico Madridise said to have a deal in place to sign the player as a free agent.
It is also reported that City is willing to ‘go up to’ €40 million (£35m) for the 25-year-old and could soon make a ‘play ahead of any competition’. Bremer joined Juve last summer for €50m (£44m), signing a contract until 2027.
Since then, the Brazilian has developed into an important player for Massimiliano Allegri. However, if Juventus fails to advance in the Europa League after being eliminated from the Champions League, the player may prefer a fresh start.
Allegri stated about the Brazilian’s strengths: “I am very pleased with Bremer’s arrival; he possesses the qualities we sought and is very physical. There aren’t many defenders of that caliber available, and the club did well to quickly replace [Matthijs] De Ligt.”
With Soyuncu set to leave the King Power Stadium, Brendan Rodgers‘ side has already begun looking for a replacement.
According to Calcio Mercato, the Foxes are considering a move for Bremer, who signed a contract with Juventus last summer and is under contract until June 2027.
Having joined the Bianconeri from Torino for a fee of €50,000, he has since established himself as a key figure in the club’s success.
Bremer has started 19 of Juventus’ 23 league games this season, scoring once in a 2-2 draw with Salernitana in September.
