Leicester City release next five fixtures compared to Leeds Ipswich and Southampton

Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as the Foxes go into the international break top of the Championship but having suffered successive defeats

Leicester City go into the international break still top of the Championship but perhaps not feeling quite as comfortable about their promotion prospects as they were a couple of weeks ago.

Leicester made a remarkable start to the 2023/24 campaign following their shock relegation from the Premier League last season. Under new boss Enzo Maresca, they won 13 out of their opening 14 league matches to back up their tag of favourites to make an immediate return to the top flight

However, back-to-back defeats have made the promotion race much more interesting, and given rivals hope of catching the Foxes. A 1-0 home loss to Leeds United saw their cushion inside the top two reduced, and that gap was cut further after Leicester were beaten 1-0 at Middlesbrough on Saturday

City now only lead second-placed Ipswich Town on goal difference, and third-placed Leeds are now within eight points of the leaders after a 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle at Elland Road. Southampton are a point behind Daniel Farke’s side in fourth, with Preston North End and Sunderland making up the top six as things stand.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion and Hull City are only outside the play-off zone on goal difference. All teams have played 16 matches, meaning each side have 30 games remaining. Below, we look at the next five rounds of fixtures for Leicester and their closest rivals
