Leicester City release strong line-up v Sunderland as One big decision for Enzo Maresca made

How Leicester City could shape up at the King Power Stadium against the Black Cats as they look to record an eighth straight win in the Championship and strengthen their grip on top spot

Kelechi Iheanacho may be handed the opportunity to continue his scoring streak from the start when Leicester City take on Sunderland, with the striker potentially the only change Enzo Maresca makes to his line-up.

Iheanacho has scored in his last four Championship outings, with three of those goals coming as a substitute. But with Maresca’s rotation policy up front, and with Jamie Vardy rarely starting two games in four days, it could be that Iheanacho leads the line when City gun for an eighth straight win on Tuesday evening.

However, Maresca may feel that Vardy’s speed and penetrating runs in behind are a better threat early on, with Iheanacho to profit later in the game when Sunderland tire.

Beyond that, changes seem unlikely. With Yunus Akgun ruled out through injury, Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi are expected to continue on the wings, with Marc Albrighton yet to be handed a start in the Championship.

In midfield, Cesare Casadei for Wilfred Ndidi is the only possible change, but the Nigerian is the greater attacking threat right now, and so should continue alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harry Winks. In defence, there feels no need to break up the back three of Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, and James Justin, with Ricardo Pereira then pushing forward.

With no Yunus, one of Ben Nelson or Wanya Marcal will have to be called up to fill the bench, unless Maresca hands a surprise call-up to Will Alves, who trained with the first team ahead of the game as he finishes his recovery from an ACL tear.
