Leicester City set for a swap deal as Brendan Rodgers offers Timothy Castagne for Denzel Dumfries

Dumfries has made 72 appearances for the Nerazzurri since joining from PSV Eindhoven in June 2021, contributing seven goals and 11 assists.

Despite having a contract until June 2025, Dumfries’ future with Simone Inzaghi’s side has been the subject of much speculation.

Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly planning a summer transfer bid for the Dutchman.

Chelsea have been previously linked with a move, although it remains to be seen if they will pursue the transfer with January signing Malo Gusto set to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Leicester are the latest Premier League club to enter the race for the 26-year-old, according to InterLive.it.

According to the report, the Foxes may try to outbid their Premier League rivals for Dumfries by including Castagne in the deal.

Castagne has played a key role in Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, appearing in 21 of the club’s 23 Premier League games.

The Belgium international, who has three years left on his Leicester contract, has previously played in Italy.

Castagne spent three years with Atalanta, where he scored eight goals and assisted ten times in 96 appearances before joining Leicester in 2020.

While the Foxes may be willing to include the 26-year-old in a potential Dumfries transfer, Inter are not interested in a makeweight deal.

The Nerazzurri would prefer a cash-only deal and have set a €40 million (£35.5 million) asking price for the Dutch international.

After missing out on a starting spot in the two games preceding Saturday’s home game against Udinese, Dumfries returned to the Inter lineup for the 3-1 victory, and he played a key role, winning the penalty for Romelu Lukaku’s opener.

Dumfries has appeared in 27 games for Inter this season, contributing two goals and four assists.
