After a string of outstanding displays for Australia in the World Cup last month, the towering center-back is reported to be one of the Foxes’ top January transfer targets.
With City on the approach of sealing a deal for FC Copenhagen‘s Victor Kristiansen, all eyes are apparently on Souttar. According to Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Stoke has turned down their offer.
Di Marzio claims that “talks will continue” as City attempts to shore up its weak defense. In the Premier League this season, only three teams have conceded more than their 33 goals.
According to The Daily Record, City is “leading the race” to recruit Souttar, who has drawn increasing interest following his World Cup performances. He helped guide Australia to the knockout stages, where they were defeated by Argentina.
Di Marzio also revealed that City is interested in Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Tete, who is currently on loan at Lyon. He admits that a deal would be “tough” to bring off.
