Leicester City is ready to make a €35 million bid for Torino center-back Perr Schuurs, who is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.
According to InterLive (via LeicestershireLive), the Dutch center-back will almost certainly move to the Premier League. He joined Torino from Ajax Amsterdam last year for a fee of 9 million Euros.
Schuurs has since contributed two assists in 19 Serie A games, but the 23-year-old may be on his way to the Premier League. Potential suitors include Manchester United, Liverpool, and Inter Milan.
We do require a center-back to regularly partner with Eric Dier and Cristian Romero. We need to let Ben Davies off the hook and stop playing him out of position at center-back.
Dier isn’t a world-beater every day of the week, and we need players who can compete for starting spots on a consistent basis. Many Premier League fans are unfamiliar with Schuurs.
But, based on the teams that have been linked to him, the Netherlands international is clearly doing something right. Inter are reportedly interested in him to replace Stefan de Vrij, who may leave the club.
Torino is thought to want at least €40 million for his services. That’s a bit much for a player who has yet to prove himself at the highest level, but given that he only joined the Serie A club last summer, the fee makes sense.
