Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City will be forced to sell “two or three top players” this summer.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Foxes will be forced to replace those stars with “young players and Championship signings”.
Leicester were charged with a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in March and face a points deduction in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Foxes reported losses of £89.7million for the 2022-23 campaign and are still in financial bother despite returning to the top flight.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is one of the most valuable stars at the King Power Stadium and has been targetted by the likes of Brighton and Tottenham in recent windows.
Leicester face ‘very tough order’ in the 2024-25 campaign, says Wyness
Wyness insisted he has “sympathy” for Leicester’s situation and claimed more should be done to assist clubs in their position.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “They’re going to have to sell two or three of their top players.
“They’ll have to get the wage bill down at the same time as bringing enough talent in to survive in the Premier League.
“If we’re going to try and make the league competitive, we’ve got to assist clubs like Leicester.
“They’re going to have to build a squad with young players and signings from the Championship. They’re going to be very constrained.”
