Leicester City have one spare space in their Premier League squad with just 24 players named on their official list for the first half of the season.
The Premier League have now published each club’s squad lists following the deadline on Friday, and City, as expected, have not used their full 25-player allowance. It means they will be able to sign a free agent and add to their squad should they choose, albeit signings before January are not expected
City have not needed to fill all 25 spots because they have five first-team players eligible for the under-21 list. Abdul Fatawu, Facundo Buonanotte, Bilal El Khannouss, Will Alves, and Michael Golding were all born after January 1, 2003.
Neither did City have any trouble meeting the homegrown quota. Clubs have to have at least eight players who came through the academy system in England in order to be able to use all 25 spots, with City registering 13 homegrown players.
City did have two players in their development squad who would have needed to be registered to feature in the Premier League this season, but neither have been handed a spot. Midfielder Arjan Raikhy, who made his debut under Enzo Maresca last season, was born in 2002, while striker Nathan Opoku, who is out with a double-leg fracture he suffered on loan at OH Leuven last season, was born in 2001.
