Leicester City’s start to the season compared to the 2022/23 campaign proves one key thing.
The Foxes are set to face off against Nottingham Forest in the upcoming round of Premier League fixtures.
Despite initially getting off to a troubled start, two wins on the bounce has helped propel Leicester City up to a lofty 14th place in the Premier League table following their promotion from the Championship in the 2023/24 campaign under Enzo Maresca.
In particular, it seems that the win against Southampton could be a turning point for Steve Cooper’s side, who initially looked to be getting sucked into an early relegation scrap.
The odds were always against Leicester City after losing some key players, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who joined Chelsea, but Cooper has surprisingly done a brilliant job in comparison to the previous season in the Premier League, which saw the Foxes get off to a drastically worse start in the 2022/23 campaign.
Leicester City 2024/25 compared to 2022/23 shows clear improvements under Steve Cooper
Despite some fans not being fully satisfied with the results that Cooper’s side were putting out at the start of the season, they have certainly began to turn things around, and it is safe to say that it has been a solid start to the campaign, especially when comparing it to the opening eight results of the disastrous 2022/23 season.
At this point, Leicester City have managed to get nine points, which has included wins against Bournemouth and Southampton, whilst also getting a point in games against Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton.
Whilst the 2022/23 season saw the Foxes given a slightly more difficult run in of games, it still suggests that there have been stark improvements for the side since, despite having the likes of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes in the side.
The 2022/23 campaign’s poor start saw an accumulation of just four points, with their first win of the season coming in their eighth game against Nottingham Forest, whilst they also drew against Brentford. Losses came against Arsenal, Southampton, Chelsea, Man United, Brighton and Tottenham.
Steve Cooper deserves more credit after positive start to the season
Things were certainly looking bleak at times in the opening few fixtures of the Premier League season, and there was a clear lack of firepower in regards to attacking output in the side.
However, with help from the brilliant talents of Facundo Buonanotte, they have managed to turn it around, and Cooper without a doubt deserves praise for coming in prior to the Premier League season to a team that had so much uncertainty around it regarding squad and transfers.
The Foxes’ season will be dictated by their upcoming games, starting with Nottingham Forest, and if they can continue their fine run then Cooper will certainly have done a brilliant job up until this point.
