Leicester City could be hit by a points deduction if they are relegated to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the EFL might have “opportunities” to charge the Foxes over breaking their own spending rules if they return to the Championship next season.
The EFL wants to charge Leicester with a PSR breach if they are relegated back to the Championship.
The Foxes avoided a points deduction after being hit with a Premier League charge for breaching financial rules for the 2022-23 campaign.
Leicester found a loophole and successfully argued that they were no longer a Premier League side when they submitted their accounts on 30 June 2023.
However, the club could still be charged by the EFL if they don’t survive the drop.
