Premier League clubs have until Friday 13 September to submit their 25-man squads for the coming months.
Leicester City have been busy in the transfer window, signing nine new players while also allowing a host of faces to depart.
With rules to follow the Foxes will have to choose wisely but could even end up with free spots free, allowing them to assess the free agent market should the right fit become available.
We take a look at what the Premier League’s rules are, who could be in the squad, and when they will be able to add/remove to it.
Every rule Leicester City must follow ahead of 25-man squad deadline
As with any squad list, it isn’t just a case of picking 25 players and sticking with them, there are certain criteria to follow.
Steve Cooper has 29 players on the books at the King Power Stadium, but not all of them will need to be registered.
Players born on January 1 2003 and later don’t have to be submitted and can be added to the Under-21s list. This list can be as long as the clubs want it to be and the Foxes can include the likes of Abdul Fatwau, Bilal El Khannouss, and Will Alves.
The only exception to this rule is Facundo Buonanotte. Premier League rules state that all loan signings must count towards the 25 – regardless of age. Top-flight sides are also restricted to a maximum of four loans from clubs in the same division throughout the season.
Additionally, they can only play for a maximum of two teams throughout the season
Secondly, teams are only allowed a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players. Leicester won’t have to worry about this as they only have 11 on their books.
To qualify as a homegrown player, the person in question must’ve been at an English/Welsh club for at least three seasons before turning 21.
Two youth development players will also have to be registered in case the Leicester boss needs to call upon them in the event of an injury crisis.

When Can Leicester make changes to the 25-man squad?
Once the list is submitted on 13 September there will be no chance for Cooper to make any changes until January at the earliest.
The only exception to this is if the Foxes choose to sign a free agent but, even still, they can only be added if there is a space in the 25-man squad.
Yusuf Yazici is of interest to the East Midlanders and if serious about a move, Leicester may leave a squad space free to facilitate him.
