Leicester City faced off with Nottingham Forest in a Premier League clash on Friday evening and were far from their best.
The Foxes headed into the game looking to make it three wins on the spin for the first time under Steve Cooper.
The Leicester manager answered fan’s prayers ahead of kick-off at the King Power Stadium with some exciting selection calls.
Abdul Fatawu and Harry Winks both started after impressing when brought in in the comeback versus Southampton last week.
And against Nottingham Forest, Leicester did start fairly well. Granted, Ryan Yates put them 1-0 up after 16 minutes but Jamie Vardy scored an equaliser after 23 minutes and the home outfit’s overall first-half display was solid.
However, things quickly took a turn in the second half and Leicester fell to a 3-1 defeat with a few players not covering themselves in glory during the evening clash.
Wout Faes was poor for Leicester City vs Nottingham Forest
Facundo Buonanotte saw his main weakness exposed vs Nottingham Forest after a run of previously stellar showings for the Midlands outfit.
Elsewhere, James Justin did not cover himself in glory when playing on the left against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
One man who was particularly woeful on the night, however, was centre-back Wout Faes.
The Belgian cost Leicester a goal in the second half when he was forced into an error by Forest striker, Chris Wood.
Now, some concerning stats regarding Faes’ display vs Nottingham Forest have emerged post-match, as per Sofascore.
The centre-back was given a team-low 5.9 rating, he lost 66 percent of his duels, lost possession eight times, failed to block a single shot or make a tackle, was dribbled past twice and, of course, made an error leading to a goal.
How Steve Cooper can replace Wout Faes at Leicester City
Despite conceding three, Faes’ centre-back partner on the night, Caleb Okoli, was by no means terrible and should keep his place going forward.
However, Leicester could now slip down to 16th in the Premier League table after the latest game week has played out, potentially to within three points of the relegation zone.
After facing Manchester United in the League Cup on Wednesday, Leicester take on Ipswich Town in their next Premier League fixture.
Ipswich are currently one point above the bottom three and that meeting, much like Southampton, already seems like a must-win for Leicester.
As a result, Cooper should consider dropping Faes for that game and start the more experienced Conor Coady at centre-back.
