Super Eagles star sends powerful warning to Klopp’s Liverpool ahead of Carabao Cup tie

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has declared that he and his teammates are ready to compete against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool when the two teams meet in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng report

The Foxes have started the new season in fine form, winning seven of their eighth Championship fixtures and navigating past Burton Albion and Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s Red, on the other hand, have also started the season brilliantly having won six of their seven matches played so far, placing them second in the Premier League, only two points adrift of champions Manchester City.

Having faced the Merseyside club over the previous years in the Premier League, Leicester will travel to Anfield in the second tier this term.

That divisional gap between the two sides shouldn’t be a reason for discouragement, though, according to Iheanacho, who believes his team is capable of competing with their opponents despite their apparent underdog status.

He said: ‘We are excited. We know what Anfield is like. It’s a great atmosphere there. We are not going there for the atmosphere, we are going there to complete, the Nigerian forward revealed on Leicester City’s website

We played them in the pre-season and we’re in a good place now. We’re winning games. It’s a cup game, but we know what they’re like. They’re a strong side, they’ve been doing well in the Premier League.

They’re going to be strong for us, but we need to really work hard to get the win. Hopefully we’ll do that so let’s see what comes out of that. They press really well. We have to be careful of that as well.

We will try to give them a game, but we know they’re a strong side.

The 26-year-old has featured in all but one of the Foxes’ matches in this early stage of the season, registering 2 goals and 2 assists in his 9 appearances.
