How have the transfers Leicester City missed out on fared at their new clubs?

Leicester City were busy in the summer transfer window, but there were still some transfer targets that got away.

Nine players joined the Foxes, but it proved to be a frustrating period for Steve Cooper, who missed out on several targets.

The forward department was the most difficult to recruit in, eventually bringing an end to the hoodoo by signing Odsonne Edouard on loan from Crystal Palace on deadline day.

But how have three of those targets fared since turning down a move to the King Power Stadium in favour of another club elsewhere? Without any further ado, let’s take a look.

Matias Soule – Roma

The first of the high-profile targets the Foxes missed out on was winger Matias Soule.

After impressing during a loan spell at Frosinone in Serie A, where he played alongside new Leicester signing Caleb Okoli, Soule was of interest to several sides.

Juventus demanded a fee close to the £30m mark, interesting Italian giants Roma. In the end, it would be Roma who would win the race for his signature.

Soule has featured in all three of Daniele De Rossi’s side’s games, drawing two and losing one.

He’s yet to score or assist so far but has caught the eye of his national team and was called up to Argentina’s senior squad for their September international fixtures.

Adam Hlozek – Hoffenheim

Adam Hlozek looked nailed on to arrive in the East Midlands this summer after transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported that he would join Leicester on loan from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

It seemed that everything but the announcement from both clubs had been made until Hoffenheim entered the race at the eleventh hour, pouncing on the Foxes’ failure to complete forms in time to seal the deal for the Czech Republic international.

Hlozek has played in both of Hoffenheim’s games so far this season and set up a goal for former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric in a 3-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

He did get off to a winning start in his competitive debut for the club in which Kramaric scored a hat trick in a 3-2 win against newly promoted Holstein Kiel.

Wilfred Zaha – Lyon

Wilfred Zaha was heavily linked with a return to the Premier League over the summer and was of interest to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Leicester.

At one point the Foxes looked like they were in pole position to complete a deal only for off-field issues to cause the move to derail.

Zaha, who was at Galatasaray at the time, saw a move to the King Power Stadium scuppered by UK tax complications.

It looked like he would remain in Turkey only to secure a loan move to French outfit Lyon on deadline day.

Due to joining late in the day the 31-year-old couldn’t make his debut before the international break but will be in contention to play against Lens this weekend.

He will also be blessed with the extra weight of European football, with Lyon competing in this season’s Europa League.
