Two Leicester City electrifying midfielders set to leave as Man Utd prepare for double swoop deal

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing James Maddison and Youri Tielemans from Leicester City this summer.

Maddison’s contract at the King Power Stadium expires in June 2024, and there has been speculation about his future in recent months, with Newcastle United said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Meanwhile, Tielemans’ contract with Leicester City expires at the end of the season, and he is widely expected to leave the club on a free transfer in search of greener pastures.

Last summer, Manchester United and Arsenal were both heavily linked with the Belgium international, but he ultimately stayed at Leicester and will finish the season with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The 20-time English champions are interested in signing Tielemans on a free transfer, according to Football Transfers, with head coach Erik ten Hag looking to strengthen his midfield for next season.

Meanwhile, despite the fact that the 26-year-old is having another productive season for Leicester despite the team’s inconsistency, the report claims that Maddison is a target.

In 17 Premier League appearances during the 2022-23 season, the England international has nine goals and five assists.

Meanwhile, since joining the Foxes in July 2018 from Norwich City, the playmaker has contributed 54 goals and 37 assists in 190 appearances across all competitions.

Leicester are reportedly wary of allowing Maddison to enter the final year of his contract, which could result in a high-profile sale during the summer transfer window.

Man United are reportedly interested in the Englishman because of his versatility, with the attacker capable of operating in a variety of positions in the final third of the field.

Tielemans has been a key player for Leicester since joining on loan from Monaco in 2019, before completing a permanent move in July 2019.

The 25-year-old has featured on 28 occasions for Rodgers’s side during the 2022-23 campaign, contributing four goals and one assist in the process.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro both arrived at Old Trafford last summer to bolster the midfield, but Scott McTominay’s future is expected to be called into question once he recovers from a serious knee injury, and Donny van de Beek’s future is also expected to be called into question.

Marcel Sabitzer joined on loan from Bayern Munich in the final days of the January transfer window, and the Red Devils are thought to be considering a permanent deal for the Austrian.
