Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi is about to finalize his transfer to Leicester City, partially thanks to Enzo Maresca’s efforts.
The Foxes have been working on the move for several weeks now, with their Italian manager hellbent on bringing his compatriot aboard.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the 28-year-old will imminently join the English club in what will be his first experience abroad.
As the pink newspaper reveals, Maresca played a decisive role in the operation. He considers Sensi as the right profile to bolster his ranks.
Leicester are currently leading the English Championship table. They appear poised to make a swift return to the Premier League following their devastating relegation last season.
The East Midlands club has also managed to untie the knots. They received the green light from the English Football Federation to finalize the move.
They did so by sending back Chelsea loan Cesare Casadei to Stamford Bridge, thus making room for Sensi’s arrival from a financial standpoint.
The report expects the Nerazzurri to collect 2 million euros from the sale. The player’s contract with Inter will expire at the end of the season, which explains the relatively low fee.
Stefano Sensi Will Imminently Leave Inter Milan To Join Leicester City
The Italian joined the Serie A giants in the summer of 2019 following an impressive spell at Sassuolo.
Unfortunately for the midfielder, recurring injury problems hindered his progress.
Sensi tried to revitalize his career with loan spells at Sampdoria and Monza. But following his return to Appiano Gentile in the summer, he found himself at the bottom of Simone Inzaghi’s pecking order.
The 28-year-old only made four appearances across all competitions this season, all coming off the bench.
