Here at Vital Luton Town, we were so confident the deal would be done that we ran an article – he-great-centre-back-conundrum – asking who would be the third member, if all the candidates were fit, at the heart of the Hatters defence alongside Mark McGuiness and Teden Mengi.
Howver it was very late in the afternoon that the deal to sign the Cardiff City was eventually announced.
One wag, on social media, came up with the brilliant idea that Luton Town should have announced the signing at precisely at 17:59 to coincide with the exact year the Guiness brewery was founded.
As usual, we are left to speculate as to the magnitude of the transfer fee invovled with the Hatters not revealing it.
But we can assume it was a large amount of cash with the official line being it was for a ‘significant undisclosed fee’, a nice touch Luton.
It remains to be seen if Mark will be in the starting XI away to Preston North End this Saturday, but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t.
