GOOD BYE: 2 Luton Town players to leave immediately on loan before August 30th deadline

Luton Town will be looking to return to the Premier League next season.

The Hatters spent last season in the top flight for the first time in over 30 years, but despite putting up a good fight, it proved to be too big of a challenge as they suffered relegation by finishing in 18th.

Rob Edwards and his side had a lot to be proud of though, and they will now reset and aim to earn promotion once more. To the delight of all Luton supporters, Edwards signed a new contract this summer, which will put fears of his departure to bed for the time being.

Luton have been smart in the transfer window so far, with both Reuell Walters from Arsenal and Shandon Baptiste from Brentford being signed up ahead of the Championship campaign.

They have lost a couple of key players like Ross Barkley and Gabriel Osho, but the Hatters will remain hopeful of a positive season under the guidance of Rob Edwards.

The season begins in just one week’s time, but there are a few weeks remaining in the transfer window. While Edwards will be looking to strengthen his squad, he also may be aiming to send a couple of players out on loan this season to further their development.

Today, Football League World looks at two Luton players in particular that could be sent out on loan this summer.

Joe Taylor

Joe Taylor signed for Luton in January 2023, and has since come on leaps and bounds as a goalscorer. With the Hatters in the Premier League last season, Taylor spent the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign on loan in the EFL.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Colchester United in League Two before moving into League One and featuring for Lincoln City from January onwards. He became a fan favourite during both spells as he made it into double figures in terms of goals for both clubs.

Colchester United 12 2
Lincoln City 10 3

Theoretically, Taylor would be a solid attacking option for Luton in the Championship this season, but with the likes of Elijah Adebayo and Carlton Morris being above him in the pecking order, his game time would be limited, so another loan move would make sense.

Huddersfield are the latest club to be linked with a move for the striker, as Michael Duff prepares for life in League One with the Terriers. That move would suit all parties as Huddersfield would get a fresh, young striker who can score regular goals, while Taylor can continue to prove himself at the top end of League One.

Jayden Luker

Kenilworth Road general view

Having signed a professional contract at Kenilworth Road in March 2023, Jayden Luker is yet to make a first-team appearance for Luton, but he did make the bench in the Premier League last season on a number of occasions.

The second half of the campaign saw him go out on loan for the first time in his career as he linked up with Woking during their National League relegation battle. Luker became rather popular in his three-month spell with Woking, as he made 12 starts and scored two goals to help them survive in the fifth tier.

Now back with Luton, it would make sense for him to go back out on loan for another season, but this time in the EFL. Grimsby Town boss, David Artell, recently confirmed his interest in Luker as the Mariners prepare for their League Two campaign.

A move to Grimsby would be ideal for the attacking midfielder as he looks to work his way up and continue to prove himself. His loan spell with Woking was a huge success, so Luton will be looking to build on that.
