Luton Town are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh on loan as head coach Rob Edwards plans for life in the Championship.
It has been reported via journalist Alan Nixon’s Patreon that Ozoh is likely to be sent out on loan by Palace this summer by Oliver Glasner to get regular game time, and Luton are keen to bring him to Kenilworth Road in the coming months.
The midfielder became Palace’s youngest ever Premier League debutant in January 2023 when he came on in a fixture against Newcastle United when he was just 17 years of age, and he made a number of appearances from the bench last season.
Now though, he could be on the verge of spending the 2024-25 season in the Championship to develop, with the Hatters keen on offering Ozoh the chance to play senior minutes.
Luton Town’s interest in Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh
Luton will be looking to make an immediate return to the Premier League following their recent relegation, and they’re set to be busy in the transfer market as they look to bolster their squad.
Despite playing nine Premier League games last season for Palace, all of which came from the bench, Glasner appears keen to send the youngster out on loan to gain regular first-team minutes. However, the Hatters aren’t the only Championship side interested.
It’s been reported by London News Online that Plymouth Argyle are also keen on Ozoh, with Wayne Rooney looking to bring him to Devon this summer.
This means that Luton won’t have it all their own way as they look to complete a deal for the Palace man, but they’ll be hoping that their status as likely promotion challengers will help convince Glasner that they’re the right club to further Ozoh’s development.
It’s clear that the midfielder is highly-rated at Selhurst Park, and the fact they were willing to play him in a Premier League game when he was just 17 shows that, as well as being a regular addition in the Eagles’ matchday squad last season.
Perhaps his best moment in a Palace shirt came last December when he played 56 minutes from the bench away to Manchester City, helping his side to a 2-2 draw against the eventual champions, and he certainly didn’t look out of place despite the world-class talent on the pitch.
Palace have high hopes for Ozoh, and a Championship loan is seen as the next step on his journey.
David Ozoh would be a very useful signing for Luton Town
Not only would Ozoh add plenty of quality to Luton’s squad, but it’s in a position of need too.
The Hatters look set to lose central midfielder Ross Barkley this summer, with Aston Villa and Everton linked with his signature in recent weeks, and there’s doubt over the future of other midfielders at Kenilworth Road.
The likes of Allan Campbell and Louie Watson endured somewhat underwhelming loan spells with Millwall and Charlton Athletic last season, so it remains to be seen if they have a future at Luton and how often they’d feature were they to remain at the club.

---|---|
Competition | Appearances |
Premier League | 9 |
FA Cup | 2 |
Carabao Cup | 1 |
Premier League 2 | 4 |
EFL Trophy | 3 |
It’s clear that Luton need reinforcements in the centre of the park this summer, and it’s clearly a position they’re prioritising given their links with Ozoh.
No doubt Palace would want assurances over the 19-year-old’s playing time should they sanction a move to Luton, but a move to Kenilworth Road could certainly suit all parties this summer.
