Luton Town leading Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City in hot pursuit to sign attacker

Karamoko Dembele is likely to leave Brest on loan again this summer, as per The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City and Luton Town are among a long list of clubs who are keeping tabs on Dembele this summer

The 21-year-old attacker spent last season on loan at Blackpool in League One. He scored eight and assisted 13 in 39 third tier outings for the Seasiders.

But, he has since returned to French club Brest where he doesn’t appear as if he has much of a future.

He is not short of interest though. Portsmouth recently cooled their interest in Dembele, but Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town are two Championship sides eyeing a move, whilst Leicester City and Everton in the Premier League also hold interest.

Now, the latest update suggests another loan move away from France is the most likely outcome for the English youngster this summer.

A statement of intent

Dembele has showed huge signs of promise over the past 12 months and his performances in the third tier showed the talent at his disposal.

The Owls look as if they’re on the right path with Danny Rohl at the helm and the German’s pulling power is one of the biggest advantages he brings to Hillsborough.

However, if the Owls were able to fend off interest from the likes of Leicester City, Everton and Luton Town to secure this deal then it would be a huge statement to the rest of the Championship.

Moving in the right direction

Sheffield Wednesday survived relegation last season on the final day, beating Sunderland away from home.

It now appears as if the sky is the limit for Sheffield Wednesday who, under Rohl, look like one of the most exciting teams in the division.

But, there is a lot of work still to do to get their squad up to standard. Dembele would be a great bit of business, but they shouldn’t put all their eggs in the Dembele basket.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Owls climb the second tier this season and just how far they can go remains to be seen. However, should they manage to get another few strong additions to their squad then the clubs in the top half of the Championship will definitely be looking over their shoulder this coming season.
