Last night (Friday), in front of the Sky TV cameras, the Hatters battled to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Everton at Kenilworth Road.
But while it is always good to avoid defeat, the harsh truth is that it was a game Luton Town had to take maximum points from.
After the game, and talking to Sky Sports, the Hatters boss, Rob Edwards, as honest as ever, had this to say
“I feel disappointed. We had to win the game. We’re still in this fight right now. We gave everything to win it, the players gave everything.
“I’m proud of the performance but I’m tinged with disappointment right now because the three points were huge tonight.
“It was almost, and we’ve had a lot of those this year. It would’ve have been great to get those extra two points tonight, clearly.”
It would Rob, but the fates continue to conspire against us and, sometimes, you start to believe that things are not quite meant to be.
An abiding memory of this season, if the worse does happen, is the memory of just how close we’ve been to taking additional points but foiled by late equalisers and winners.
Continuing, when pushed on the outcome of Nottingham Forest’s points deduction appeal, the gaffer had this to say:
“I’m not complaining, I’m not going to moan about the situation. It’s just not an ideal situation and everyone would love to know where they stand as quickly as possible.
“We have to control what we can control, and that’s our performance, how
hard we work, how well we perform, and we’ll go and give absolutely everything.”
My view is that the outcome of the appeal will be a huge factor on whether our relegation fight proves to be in vain!
West Ham United v Luton Town?
West Ham United!
Luton Town!
