Nottingham Forest is a complete failure. Jesse Lingard has warned that he must step up to ensure his team’s survival in the Premier League.
The summer signing has been a disappointment, but Jermaine Jenas, who began his career at Forest, believes he can still deliver to give Steve Cooper a fair reward for his “remarkable job.”
Despite the “madness,” Jermaine Jenas believes Steve Cooper has done a “remarkable job” at Nottingham Forest, but he needs Jesse Lingard to step up sooner rather than later to secure the club’s Premier League status.
Cooper has signed 30 players since winning promotion last season and has kept the East Midlands club just above the bottom three.
“When you think about it, he’s basically had to manage a brand new team to the one that got promoted,” Jenas said of Cooper.
“You can develop a rhythm and bond with a group of players, and then you look at it now and see Brennan Johnson, Joe Worrall in and out of the center of defense, and Ryan Yates in midfield.” They are the only three players on whom he can rely to predict how they will react. What he has accomplished is remarkable.
“In terms of survival, Morgan Gibbs-White has been their best player, but he’s been struggling for goals.”
“And they squandered all that money on Jesse Lingard, who has yet to deliver.” I’m not picking on Morgan because he’s been fantastic, but they have a big couple of months ahead of them if they want to stay in this league. Jesse has more to offer, and once Morgan scores, he’ll get to work. If they can accomplish this, they will have no trouble remaining in the league.
“It’s going to be very tight if they don’t chip in and it’s all left to Brennan Johnson or Chris Wood, who haven’t really been performing yet.”
Everton is improving, and Southampton and Bournemouth can both get three points in a week. It will be extremely difficult, but the objectives are critical.
