Fans celebrate as Maddison and agent spotted in St James’ Park for final transfer negotiations

Newcastle United fans are optimistic about their club’s new signing, James Maddison, following the Leicester City star’s recent social media activity.

Newcastle has transformed itself from a relegation battle to a battle for a place in the Champions League in the last year.

After winning the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, Eddie Howe’s side is also just 90 minutes away from reaching a major trophy final for the first time since losing the FA Cup final to Manchester United in 1999.

In order to improve their chances of finishing in the top four, Howe has brought in Everton’s Anthony Gordon this month.

Despite the fact that the transfer window is still open, their fans believe that the signings may not have ended.

Last summer, Leicester City star James Maddison was strongly linked with the Magpies, with bids of £40 and £45 million rejected by Brendan Rodgers’ side.

However, now that the 26-year-old has changed his Instagram profile picture from a Leicester themed one to one in an England shirt, some supporters believe the move will take place before the window slams shut, which is the only way it can close.

“Maddison’s profile picture has been changed from Vardy, their owner, Maddison and the FA Cup (in a Leicester kit) to him in an England kit,” one fan observed.

Maddison has agreed to sign. “You can sense it,” a second person added.

“Profile pic changed ready for the Toon,” said a third.

“Need to see you in Newcastle in the next few days, you’d be a hero up here,” a fourth fan begged.

Other fans, however, speculated that the former Norwich City forward changed his photo after being called up to the World Cup squad.

He was a’surprise’ call up to the extended squad after a huge groundswell of opinion demanded that Gareth Southgate include the creative player.

Unfortunately for Maddison, he did not play a single minute in Qatar due to an injury sustained in the Middle East, and has only recently returned to action for the Foxes.

  1. Is that normal for a player with his agent to go to another club that he doesn’t play for to talk about terms for next season for who a transfer fee has not been agreed?
