Bayern Munich is threatening Manchester United with the signing of Monaco center-back Axel Disasi.
According to RMC Sport, Bayern has spent several weeks compiling information on the defender.
Last week, the Mail reported that Manchester United had initiated preliminary talks with Monaco about a summer transfer for Disasi.
The center-back was a member of France’s World Cup squad and appeared as a substitute in the World Cup final.
If Axel Disasi can pick between two European footballing behemoths, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, he is in a privileged position.
Bayern can certainly provide more consistency than United, at least in recent times; but, Erik ten Hag is trying to change all of that.
Disasi will be enticed to join France’s teammates in center defense on both teams. He might pair up with Dayot Upamecano at Bayern, potentially establishing a future international collaboration.
Meanwhile, United might offer him the chance to work alongside Les Bleus great Raphael Varane, which could be appealing.
Disasi may even be interested in the task of succeeding Varane for both club and country.
In terms of United, this is a summer deal due to a lack of cash to pursue a move right now.
Report on RMC Sport Monaco is seeking 50 million Euros (£44.5 million) for a deal. Bayern will also wait until the summer, although they have a habit of moving quickly in transfer windows to secure the deals they want.
