Manchester United is in talks with Marcus Rashford’s family in order to sign the striker to a new contract, according to Fabrizio Romano of GiveMeSport.
The 25-year-current old’s contract was just extended by one year due to a clause in it, but the Red Devils want to keep him at Old Trafford beyond 2024.
United manager Erik ten Hag stated at the end of December that the club had exercised its option to extend Rashford’s current contract by another year.
“Yes, I can confirm it,” he said when asked if Rashford, Fred, Diogo Dalot, and Luke Shaw’s contracts have all been extended.
“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.”
Rashford’s current contract is about £200,000 per week, according to Spotrac.
GMS has been informed by Romano that United is speaking with Rashford’s family, who represent the player, in order to persuade him to commit his long-term future to the club.
“They are speaking to Rashford’s family,” the Italian journalist revealed of the England international’s contract issue. They represent the player, so they want them to understand how important Marcus is.”
Rashford looks at ease at Old Trafford and has been on a tear this season.
According to Transfermarkt, he has 15 goals in all competitions, bringing his total for the Red Devils to 108, which is rather astounding considering he is still only 25.
It’s no surprise that England’s star, who is worth roughly £48 million according to the same website, has been rated as “world-class” by teammate Shaw.
“Everyone is aware of his qualities. He’s world-class, and if he keeps developing, he has the potential to be one of the best in the world.”
Finally, with Rashford doing well and United headed in the right direction under Ten Hag, who has led them to the League Cup semi-finals, there is no need for the attacker to depart. As a result, you should expect him to sign new terms soon.
