Newcastle reached its first League Cup semi-final in 47 years on Tuesday night, defeating Leicester 2-0, with boyhood supporter Dan Burn scoring his first goal for the club.

Nottingham Forest, four-time League Cup champions, were drawn at home to Manchester United following their 4-3 win on penalties over Wolves after the game concluded 1-1 in normal time.

Dean Henderson stopped two spot-kicks in the shootout to set up a meeting with United after Erik ten Hag’s side defeated Charlton 3-0 on Tuesday.

However, Henderson, who is on loan from Manchester United, will be unable to compete in the semi-finals.

The semi-final matches will take place between the weeks of January 23 and 30.
