Braves get great news on Jurickson Profar’s injury
The Braves are still plagued by injuries. The first was Sean Murphy, who will be out for about a month after taking a fastball off his ribcage. It was Jurickson Profar after that.
The Braves’ newest outfielder seemed to have a jammed wrist, according to the team. But we have wonderful news. Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that Profar’s wrist X-rays came back negative.
Jurickson appears to have escaped a serious injury and is not anticipated to be sidelined on Opening Day. This winter, he inked a three-year, $42 million contract with the Braves after hitting 24 home runs and recording a.280/.380/.459 slash line with the Padres on his way to being named an All-Star and Silver Slugger.
The Braves, who will already be without Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Sean Murphy for several weeks into the season, would have been devastated to lose Profar to the injured list.
aThe outfield is one area the Braves did bolster this offseason after watching depth issues rear their ugly head last year. Jarred Kelenic and Bryan De La Cruz will platoon in right field until Acuna is back. Hopefully, there are no lingering issues with Jurickson Profar, though.
