Indiana transfer guard, Gabe Cupps has committed to Ohio State

Ohio State has landed a commitment from Hoosiers transfer guard Gabe Cupps.

Cupps committed to Ohio State on Wednesday, becoming Ohio State’s first transfer commitment of the offseason and the first of Indiana’s five transfer to commit to a school.

Cuppsmissed most of the 2024-25 season due to a torn meniscus; if he is granted a medical redshirt, he would still have three years of collegiate eligibility in Columbus at Ohio State.

As a freshman, he appeared in 33 games for Indiana and averaged 2.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 21.6 minutes per game.

He saw action in only four games this past season taking four shots total before being shut down the whole season with the fore mentioned knee inury.

The Dayton, Ohio native from Centerville High School graduate and Ohio’s Mr. Basketball in 2022, Cupps was the No. 94 overall prospect and No. 3 player from Ohio in the 2023 class, per 247Sports Composite.

According to our friends over at Scarlet and Game our Ohio State site, the decision to land Gabe Cupps may have not been the best move for the Buckeyes basketball program.

“While Cupps was a really good player in high school, he hasn’t done anything in college. If the rumors of how much money Ohio State offered him are true, this is a horrible decision. Cupps hasn’t shown the ability to be able to earn minutes on a halfway decent team.
