Agent arrives St James’ Park as Newcastle United in negotiations to sign super winger

Allan Saint-Maximin is under contract with Newcastle United until 2026, and it does not appear that a new contract will be signed anytime soon.

Many Newcastle players have signed new contracts since the club’s ownership transition, including Miguel Almiron and newly acquired Kieran Trippier. There is also rumors of Bruno Guimaraes signing a new contract.

However, as better contracts are awarded and wages rise, it appears that Saint-Maximin’s terms will remain unchanged.

Newcastle are ‘in no haste’ to offer the 26-year-old a new deal to extend his term at St James’ Park, according to the Daily Mail.

They add that Maxi is hoping to receive a new and improved contract on Tyneside, but he is seemingly not a priority for the Toon owners right now

There was speculation last year that Saint-Maximin was not happy about not being offered a new deal, which led to rumours of a move away.

Those rumors will continue throughout the summer of 2023, but they come at a moment when ASM is beginning to shine. He had been a crucial player for Eddie Howe in previous weeks before he injured his hamstring against Brentford.

With so many new deals being offered with higher pay, it’s logical that Saint-Maximin wants a piece of the action. He has been instrumental for the Magpies since his arrival, but his long-term contract negotiated under Mike Ashley’s tenure may be a hindrance.

The winger’s current deal at St James’ Park expires in three years.

Newcastle’s priority right now appears to be extending Bruno Guimaraes’ contract. With Real Madrid and other clubs interested, the Magpies want to keep the talismanic Brazilian where he is.

Saint-Maximin, sadly, has not had the same impact as Bruno since joining the club. Combine that with the six-year contract he signed in 2020, and it’s easy to see why Newcastle is hesitant to offer him a new agreement.
