An examination of the most recent Newcastle United transfer rumors

On Wednesday, March 1, we take a look at the most recent Newcastle United transfer rumors.

Newcastle United has made a £35 million bid for Milinkovic-Savic.

Calciomercato, reports Mateja Kezman, Sergej Milinkovic-agent, Savic’s has received bids for the Lazio midfielder from Newcastle United, Arsenal, and West Ham.

The former Chelsea striker claims that all three Premier League clubs have made bids for Milinkovic-Savic, who is expected to leave the Serie A club this summer.

Lazio are keen to retain the Serbian midfielder, who scored 11 goals and assisted 11 others last season. The Serbian international’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, and the Magpies are said to be keeping an eye on him.

Eddie Howe’s side are looking to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming transfer window, as Newcastle are currently lacking in that area.

Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, has warned that a Saudi bid for Manchester United could see the Magpies fall to second place. The Red Devils are currently for sale, with a number of interested parties, including a Saudi investment group.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has just won the right to host the 2023 Club World Cup, and Maguire believes the Middle East rulers will be pleased with how Newcastle United’s purchase has impacted their global image.

“There is no doubt that Saudi Arabia has become a major player in terms of individual tournament rights,” Maguire told Football Insider.

“The awarding of the Club World Cup demonstrates this even more.

“It puts Newcastle United in a very strong position moving forward unless there is a Saudi-backed bid for Man United. In that case, it would be difficult to predict which of the two clubs would be preferred by the Saudi regime.

“However, there is no doubt that Saudi Arabia intends to continue using sport to increase the country’s influence and awareness. They’ve accomplished that in the last 18 months or so through Newcastle, and hosting tournaments in the hopes of eventually hosting the 2030 World Cup is another step forward for them.”
