Alexander Isak hit back at Manchester United’s coach after a super 0-2 win display

Newcastle United’s striker stated unequivocally that they had no intention of wasting time in a massive clash.

Alexander Isak has refuted Erik Ten Hag’s claims that Newcastle United likes to “delay” games or use “annoying tactics.”

The Sweden international also felt Manchester United squandered more time than Newcastle during their 2-0 win at St James’ Park. Newcastle piled on the pressure against the Red Devils and created 22 goal attempts, leaving little time to waste in front of a raucous crowd.

When asked if Ten Hag’s pre-match claims were used as motivation, Isak responded, “I don’t really agree with that (Ten Hag’s claim).” We worked hard and were the team that was determined to win.

“We were the team that wanted to advance the game. They squandered more time than we did. I don’t put too much emphasis on it. “I believe we delivered an outstanding performance.”

As part of Howe’s pre-match speech, Isak also made it clear that the Carabao Cup final defeat was not on the agenda. Despite the fact that he and his teammates were determined to win some silverware.

Isak said: “No. “I would not say that, they still got the cup. We wanted that cup and didn’t get it. This win was still important. They are a direct rival for us in the table. It was nice to get the three points.”

Newcastle somehow went in level at half-time after bombarding the Man United goalmouth with chances. Isak said they could have been out of sight by the interval.

Isak told Chronicle Live: “Yeah that’s football sometimes. We all felt that we could have gone in at half-time with a 2-0 lead or even more.

“However, we said at halftime that as long as we create chances, the ball will eventually go on if we stay positive and keep going.”

When asked if he would prefer victories like this over personal glory in front of the goal, Isak replied, “Certainly.”

My only goal is to be on a winning team.

The striker is now preparing for Newcastle’s midweek match against West Ham, in which they can take another step towards the Champions League. “Hopefully, we can use this win as a boost,” Sweden’s striker said. We won’t go into too much detail.

“We’ll just talk about one game at a time.” And achieve the results we require.”

After a recent international stint that saw him subbed for Sweden, Isak left the final word on his current condition. When asked if he had any fitness concerns, he stated: “I feel 100% You can always get fitter, but I wouldn’t say I have any issues.”
