It remains to be seen whether Allan Saint-Maximin will remain on Tyneside this summer or go on to greener pastures.
Whatever happens, some fans are wondering if his new social media message is an early farewell from the popular Frenchman, who addressed Newcastle fans in an emotional statement.
“When I joined @NUFC in 2019, nobody understood my choice,” he wrote on his personal Instagram page only moments ago. I’ve always believed in this team, and as soon as I stepped onto the field, the fans embraced me.
“There have been highs and lows since then, when we were in the relegation zone, but I always believed in the team and trusted the project, even if it was difficult to stay in the PL, I knew the club deserved much better and we had to prove it, and I gave everything on the pitch to keep the team at the highest level.” I’m thankful that some folks remember.
“When the club was purchased by new owners, the fans finally received what they deserved!” I’d like to thank all of my finest supporters for believing in me; it’s because of you that I wake up every day more motivated than ever. I’d also like to appreciate those who criticize when it’s fair, because sometimes the negative is necessary to get up. I always tried my hardest to help the club in any way I could, even if it meant playing injured…
“This year has been one of the most difficult emotionally, you won’t know since I keep personal things for myself, but I lost some incredibly significant individuals, and that is nothing compared to all that has happened in my life this year…However, I always tried to be there on the pitch and give my all. I am quite happy of the team and our achievement of the CL.
“I am now at a crossroads in my career, and I will give everything I have until the end to achieve my goals.” It is often claimed that humans forget quickly, but I will never forget everyone who loves me for who I am and believes in me through difficult times; it is in these terrible times that we see the true supporters.
“Thank you for your support; whatever happens, I will always give it my all when I get the chance to step onto the pitch.” “Thank you, God, for everything.”
A farewell message? I truly hope not. He’s had injuries, but I’d give anything to see ASM become the latest success story under Eddie Howe. He got us through some tough times and deserves a shot at the Champions League.
