DEAL: Newcastle hold meeting with agent of £26m target as star set to land St James Park

All of the latest Newcastle United transfer headlines including reports on Genoa defender Radu Dragusin and Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher

Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Dragusin meeting

The agent of Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin claims he has previously held a meeting with Newcastle United representatives over a prospective transfer. The Romania international’s move to the Serie A side from Juventus was made permanent this summer, and agent Florin Manea admits the figures demanded means it is more likely that the 21-year-old’s next destination will be the Premier League.

He told TV Play via Sport Witness: “It’s not an offer from Newcastle, I’ve had meetings with both Newcastle and other teams. Genoa would only sell him for an offer higher than €30 million.

Manea added: “I wouldn’t like it [return to Juventus], but he doesn’t know. In life you never know, even if Genoa will certainly ask for a lot of money for him. He still has a lot of room for improvement. He is aware that he’s now at 85% of his potential.

“Will Dragusin leave Italy? Probably. AC Milan and Inter have also asked, but [for] those figures, he can only go to Premier League teams.”

Gallagher talks

The Magpies have been tentatively linked with Conor Gallagher in recent transfer windows, although reports suggest they have always baulked at Chelsea’s asking price. The former Crystal Palace loanee was again the subject of speculation in the summer, but has since established himself as a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino.

Caught Offside claim Newcastle and Tottenham could revisit their interest in the 23-year-old in January, but the Blues are planning to open contract talks with the midfielder. Gallagher himself is said to be ‘open’ to the prospect of a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
