According to Takvim, Newcastle United is keeping an eye on Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. According to reports, the Magpies sent scouts to watch the Turkish talent in action and were impressed by his recent progress as a right-back in his homeland.
Kadioglu is having a good season in Turkey, putting in a few eye-catching performances for Fenerbahce on the right flank. This season, the 23-year-old has one goal and three assists in 32 appearances for his current club on all fronts.
The Arnhem native has been a consistent performer on both ends of the field in the Turkish Super Lig, averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.5 key passes, and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes. In the Turkish top tier, he completed 85.1% of his attempted passes (stats via whoscored).
Kadioglu’s contract with Fenerbahce runs until the summer of 2026. As a result, it will be difficult for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap at the end of the season.
Kadioglu is a good ball defender who can time his challenges well in order to get the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He isn’t afraid to put his foot through the ball when necessary and has the vision to play some decisive passes in the opponent’s half.
The Turkish full-back can even make a few driving runs down the right flank with the ball. However, Kadioglu is still unproven at the highest level and may struggle to adjust to life in the Premier League.
He is primarily a right-back, but he can also play as a left-back or an attacking midfielder if his manager instructs him to.
In the coming seasons, we can expect Kadioglu to add quality to Eddie Howe’s defense and provide serious competition for Kieran Trippier at St. James’ Park. At 23, he is still in his prime and has the potential to be a success story at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.
As a result, Newcastle United would be wise to do everything in their power to sign him during the summer transfer window, as he has the potential to become a future star in English football.
