Eddie Howe admits to wanting to exact revenge on Manchester United.
Newcastle have improved significantly under Eddie Howe, but Manchester United were comfortable winners in the Carabao Cup final in February.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has admitted that he is desperate to avenge the Carabao Cup final defeat against Manchester United in the Premier League.
The two teams met in Newcastle’s first cup final of the century two months ago at Wembley. The North East side were also looking to end a trophy drought that had lasted since 1955. Casemiro and Marcus Rashford scored in the first half to give United their first trophy of the season.
Prior to their meeting at St James’ Park, both clubs are still in contention for Champions League qualification through the Premier League. Howe insists his team has added motivation to right Wembley’s wrongs.

“Whenever you come close to doing something but don’t quite make it, it only intensifies your motivations and desires to do it,” Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said. “I’m determined to do it for everyone associated with the club.”
“There was dissatisfaction. In my career, I’ve had quite a few. That night, I ended up watching the game again, and you’re just looking for what we could have done differently.
“How could we have won that game, and that’s a normal reaction when we don’t get what we want?” Natural disappointment, but quickly turn your attention to the next challenge.”
