Milan were heavily linked with a move for Saint-Maximin during the winter transfer window, when he appeared to have fallen out of favor at Newcastle, and Fabrizio Romano hinted in his CaughtOffside column in February that the interest has not subsided.
“It wasn’t close with AC Milan because Newcastle were never really open to letting Allan Saint-Maximin leave,” Romano explained.
“I’m aware his agent mentioned Milan’s interest, but it was not advanced.” We’ll see in the summer; I’d be lying if I said there was any guaranteed transfer news for the summer because so much will change for every club in the next few months.”
The Newcastle Chronicle has confirmed that the Rossoneri ‘were interested in Saint-Maximin in January,’ while Nottingham Forest ‘also made an enquiry’ for the winger. Eddie Howe, on the other hand, has responded to speculation that he might be available this summer.
“I wouldn’t put him on the team if he wasn’t a part of the present and the future, because I don’t believe in that.” Allan is in charge of the rest. “Allan has to perform week in and week out to keep his place in the group,” he explained.
“That is true for any player. We like him, we respect him, and we believe he can make a difference for us. I believe there are some things in which we strongly believe, and we have established a framework for the players to follow.
“That has been followed by Allan. Everyone else is doing the same thing. His daily behavior has been excellent. He’s been fine, no problems, no problems.”
