According to Caught Offside, Robin Koch emerged as a summer target for Newcastle United. The Leeds United star may evaluate his options at the end of the season as he seeks to play for a bigger club in order to improve his international chances.
Newcastle United will enter the next transfer window looking for a new central defender to bolster their defense. Eddie Howe appears to prefer signing a player with extensive Premier League experience over signing someone from abroad. The Magpies have one of the toughest defenses in the league, which the manager wants to improve.
This season, Fabian Schar and Sven Botman have established themselves as one of the best central defensive pairings in the Premier League. They have conceded the fewest goals this season, which Howe will hope to continue in order to secure a top-four spot.

If Howe is successful in signing him from Leeds, he will have plenty of opportunities in the first team. Koch can play either right or left central defense, making him a viable option for Newcastle. He will almost certainly become an upgrade over someone like Jamal Lascelles, allowing Howe to rotate his pack on a regular basis.
