Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi missed Newcastle United’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but are now preparing to return to Tyneside ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter.
The Magpies face Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park in the Champions League, as they look to continue their bright start in the competition. Despite being in the alleged ‘group of death’, Newcastle lead the way after two games with four points.
Dortmund will provide a stern test, but Newcastle warmed up for the game perfectly at the weekend as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Palace. Eddie Howe’s side were dominant as they moved up to sixth in the Premier League.
Next up is the Champions League, and club owner Amanda Staveley has delivered a message to supporters ahead of Wednesday night’s match.
Amanda Staveley’s message to Newcastle fans
Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi have been in Saudi Arabia over the weekend, with the latter even asking social media for advice on where to watch the match in Riyadh.
Now the duo look set to return to Newcastle, with Staveley sending a message to fans via her official Instagram account.
She wrote: “So looking forward to coming home to Newcastle – but wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our incredible fans for the support for both our men’s and women’s teams over this season. I’m always humbled and will be forever thankful for the passion and appreciation that you show our talented men and women. The love and respect you demonstrate to our whole NUFC community at every game makes such an impact on our results – and makes us such formidable opponent. Thank you.”
