After the midweek action, there are a lot of possibilities for the Carabao Cup team of the round.

Did St James’ Park offer any contenders in matches that may have produced these contenders…?

Newcastle United put on a strong showing against Leicester, with the second half providing a couple of the goals that the performance deserved.

The organizers of the Carabao Cup competition have now unveiled their team for the (last eight) rounds, based on the Whoscored ratings from all games, and the highest-rated player in each position from the eight matches played.

The whoscored ratings are based on data from every Premier League match, with over 200 raw statistics included in the automated computation of a player’s rating, which is weighted based on their influence in the game.

Every significant occurrence is considered, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its location on the pitch and its outcome.

It neatly sums up the games, with five Newcastle United players named to the Carabao Cup team of the round, while Leicester’s finest player on the night by far, the goalkeeper, is the only member of the away team to do so, having kept the Foxes in the game until the hour mark.
