Newcastle are once again connected with a move for Leicester winger Harvey Barnes, who was linked with a move last summer. Leicester, like his teammate James Maddison, were not receptive to offers last year.
According to 90min and other sites, the 25-year-old has made Newcastle’s summer shortlist. After this nightmare season at the King Power concludes, Barnes will have only two years left on his contract.
Despite Leicester’s struggles, Barnes has been a shining light this season, scoring 10 Premier League goals. While he hasn’t played as much as he did last season, when he had 10 assists, he has done well for the struggling Foxes on the left wing.
The report claims Barnes is ready to move on this summer with Newcastle on alert. James Maddison also remains a target though some reports state the playmaker prefers a move to Spurs.
In the upcoming transfer window, a left-sided forward may not be a priority. Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, and Elliot Anderson are all available for Newcastle. Anderson, according to Fabrizio Romano, may be sent away next season.
We’ll see what happens with this link and whether it fizzles out like it did last summer. The emphasis for next season appears to be left-back and midfield, as well as a third striker option and a young center-back.
